For Parents
Fostering Safe, Healthy, and Positive Family Interactions.
Whether you are a custodial or non-custodial parent, Alaska Family Safety (AFSS) is here to support safe, child-focused connections between parents and children in situations that require supervision, structure, or protection. We understand that family transitions can be difficult—and we’re committed to making the visitation process as smooth, respectful, and safe as possible for everyone involved.

What Parents Should Know
- Intake Is Required for Both Parents.
Before any visitation or exchange services begin, both parents must complete an intake application and interview. Intake fees apply.
- We Follow Court Orders.
We do not modify or override existing custody orders, protective orders, or visitation rulings. If the court has imposed restrictions, we will follow them precisely.
- Arrival and Departure Are Managed.
AFSS designs each family’s arrival and departure plan based on safety needs. Staggered transitions may be used, and parents must follow staff instructions at all times.
- Approved Participants Only.
Only persons approved in advance by AFSS may attend visits or be present during exchanges.
- Safety and Respect Are Non-Negotiable.
We maintain a respectful, child-centered environment. Drugs, alcohol, weapons (including pepper spray or pocket knives), or inappropriate behavior are never allowed.
